Yonkers Area LWP

Our Bike/Hike on May 5 was great!  The weather was spectacular -- bright sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, perfect temperature.  Ed started off his bike ride at our house, took a tour of the Bronx Greenway, circled the Jerome Reservoir, and then picked up the Putnam Trail in Van Cortlandt Park.  The ride along the former Putnam Railroad trail continued through Yonkers, Hastings, Ardsley, and Elmsford.  Ed rode for a total of 28 miles!

Peggy set off on her hike a little while later in Pleasantville, and followed the North County Trail through a beautiful scenic route to Elmsford.  Her hike was a total of 5.5 miles.

Peggy and Ed met at the Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford, where there was some much-needed rest and recuperation.  They were joined there by our son Michael (a PV since age 4) and Ed's brother (father of PV's Liz and Ray Mechmann).
We timed our Bike/Hike perfectly -- Peggy beat Ed to their goal by only about 100 yards!

Generous sponsors of the Bike/Hike donated $1,000 to the PV's.  Thanks to all!!
